FAQs

The Montessori method is an educational approach developed by Dr. Maria Montessori that emphasizes independence, freedom within limits, and hands-on learning. It is characterized by a prepared environment where children are encouraged to explore and learn at their own pace.

Montessori Centres typically follow a specific educational philosophy emphasizing self-directed learning and individualized instruction. Daycares primarily focus on providing childcare services for working parents. While both may offer similar services such as playtime, snack/lunch, nap time, and socialization opportunities; Montessori schools, like Red Deer Montessori, typically provide a structured approach to learning and have a more academic focus on the child’s development.

At Red Deer Montessori, our programs accommodate children as young as 2 years old and up to 6 years old. Our programs are specifically designed to facilitate the development and skills of the child regardless of age. If a child is having difficulty in class, our trained staff can slow the curriculum down until your child masters the skill set and develops confidence in what they are learning. If a child is progressing quicker than their peers, we provide them with new challenges and stimulating materials.

A classroom with different age groups promotes collaborative learning and builds relationships. In this structure, older children have the opportunity to help and teach the younger children. The younger children are eager to learn from their older classmates, and in turn, the older children can gain new skills and a sense of achievement.
